7 Days Nyerere (Selous), Ruaha safari

The Southern section of Tanzania includes two wonderful national parks that attracts a lot less people than the Northern circuit with the Serengeti, but equally mesmerizing. Nyerere is a very special park where you can experience boat safaris amongst hippos and crocodiles, where elephants roam around the palm trees, and you have a good chance to see wild dogs. Ruaha where you can expect to see golden savannah studded with baobabs and misty hills stretching along the horizon in the dry season, and the grasslands become a lush green and the baobabs bloom when the rains come. The eponymous Great Ruaha River serves as a lifeline for the park’s wildlife. The park is known for its walking safaris and night drives.

Day 1-3 Nyerere National Park (Selous)

Arrive at Dar airport and take the shuttle to the domestic terminal on time for the flight to Nyerere. Depending on your flight times, you might require a night in Dar, contact us for options.
Arrive at the airstrip where you are met by your guide and road transfer to the lodge, via a meandering game drive. Relax at camp and enjoy your first game drive in the afternoon. Your 3 nights include all meals, selected beverages and the scheduled game viewing activities: game drives, boat cruise, fishing and walking depending on the season. Day 4-6 Ruaha National Park

After breakfast, transfer to the airstrip for the flight to Ruaha. Meet your tour guide and road transfer to the camp. This is a very different landscape and you will appreciate a whole new game viewing experience.
Ruaha National Park is one of the largest national parks in Tanzania, located in the centre of the country. It forms a transitional point between the landscapes of East and Southern Africa, with its golden plains of sun-bleached grass and ancient baobab trees. Your 3 nights include all meals, selected beverages and the scheduled game viewing activities: game drives, and walking depending on the season. Chat to your guide to plan your days.
The greater Ruaha area is thought to be home to one-tenth of the entire world’s wild lion population, with large prides roaming the plains. Cheetah, leopard and packs of wild dog are seen hunting here too. Visitors can also spot greater and lesser kudu, sable and roan antelope, elephants, giraffes, bat-eared foxes and some of the 570 bird species.
After a day spent walking through the bush or tracking lions in a game vehicle, pause for a refreshing G&T as the sun sets over Ruaha. Relax in the hammock on your wooden deck and unwind with a book. Cool off in the glorious infinity pool, which overlooks the vast plains. Enjoy wonderful dinners under the stars and sleep soundly listening to the sound of wildlife around you.

Day 7 End Of Itinerary

Last morning in the bush, breakfast in camp and transfer back to the airstrip on time for your flight to Dar.
Time at leisure at the airport (depending on your flight time we can add a day excursion or a day room nearby) until your onward flight, or contact us to extend your safari with a few days at the beach or a gorilla encounter.
