7 Days Elephant Great Migration Safari

This Safari tour will get you into the middle of the herds in Tarangire and the Serengeti, this wildebeest-and-elephant safari is a big-hitter for the wildlife-lover. Time your travels between July and September for classic sightings and peak weather.

The Specifications of this Tanzania safari are the famous Northern Circuit: Tarangire, the Ngorongoro Crater, and the Serengeti.

This trip is a luxury safari that focuses on offering some of the best wildlife sightings you could witness in Northern Tanzania.

This trip has been designed and priced with couples and honeymooners in mind (two adults travelling together). However, every trip we create is tailor-made for you. If you’re a group or a family, we might even suggest different accommodation. We can move elements and change the number of days – it all depends entirely on what you would like.

Day 1 Arrival JRO- Transfer Arusha

On arrival into Tanzania, you’ll spend the first night in Arusha, a great stopover before you head to the Northern Circuit national parks. We’ve suggested staying at a comfortable and characterful lodge with a good location on a B&B accommodation basis.

Day 2 – Transfer from Arusha to Tarangire. Game drives in Tarangire. -Karatu

Pick up at 8:30 AM from your hotel in Arusha and depart for Tarangire National Park with a picnic lunch for a full day game drive. Tanzania’s third largest National Park is known for its majestic baobab trees that dot the landscape, dwarfing the animals that feed beneath them. The Tarangire River is the centerpiece of this park which is famous for some of the largest herds of elephants in Africa. Here you may see lion, leopard, cheetah, lesser kudu, buffalo, Oryx, eland, giraffe and zebra. Post the game drive, you will head back to your camp/lodge where a delicious dinner awaits you.

Day 3 – Karatu-Ngorongoro to Central Serengeti

Your day starts early. Around 6:00 AM, after a good breakfast, will head out towards the Serengeti National Park. This en-route game drive through Ngorongoro ConservationArea experience a variety of savannah and forest, and you’ll be able to spot animals like antelope, wildebeest and zebra. We enter Serengeti in the afternoon and drive towards Central Serengeti. You will have an afternoon game drive in the endless plains of the Serengeti for a chance to see the great herds of wildebeest, zebras and gazelles or a pride of lions lounging in the shade. A picnic lunch will be done during the day long game drive itself. The eventful day comes to an end with dinner and a good night’s rest in your accommodation.

Day 4: Serengeti (Central) – Western Serengeti (Western Corridor)

After breakfast we head towards the western reaches of the Serengeti National Park, also known as the Western Corridor. We will do a game drive in-route from the Seronera area to the Western Corridor area. We arrive in time for lunch at the lodge and after lunch will we enjoy an afternoon game drive in the area. The wildebeest migration can normally be found in the Western Corridor area in Late April – May – June or early July, depending on rainfall patterns. Dinner and overnight in the Western Corridor area, as per the standard and type of accommodation option requested.

Day5: Full Day Game-Drive (Western Corridor) -Central Serengeti

After breakfast enjoy a full day game drive in the Western Corridor. The key feature in the Western Corridor is the Grumeti and Mbalageti rivers, running almost parallel to each other, each support a band of evergreen forest. The rivers sustain a permanent game population of zebra, wildebeest, all the predators and birdlife. It is also possible to find large pods of hippos and huge crocodiles in the Grumeti River. The wildebeest normally gather around waterholes midmorning in such densities, that they look like ants swarming around a nest. After game drive we drive we drive back to central Serengeti Dinner and overnight in the Western Corridor area, as per the standard and type of accommodation option requested.

Day 6: Serengeti (Central) – Ngorongoro Crater – Arusha

After breakfast, drive directly to Ngorongoro Crater ready to descend into the crater with lunch box enjoying the game drive for more than 7 hours. Millions of years ago, a volcano the size of Mount Kilimanjaro rose from the highlands of northern Tanzania. Its eruption formed the largest unflooded caldera in the world, the Ngorongoro Crater. Now inactive and filled with wildlife, the crater is a playground where you can enjoy game drives in in search of the Big Five. The natural protection of the crater’s 600 m (1,968 ft) high walls “Ngorongoro Crater” helps many species to thrive, is one of the most densely crowded African wildlife areas in the world and is home to an estimated 30,000 animals and this is the best place in Tanzania to see critically endangered black rhino.

Day 7-Arusha to Kilimanjaro International Airport

Today is the final day of your tour. After breakfast, we will take you to Kilimanjaro International Airport, or you can extend your trip with a beach holiday in Zanzibar. The drop-off will be either at the Kilimanjaro International Airport or Arusha Airport.
